Marlies van Eck
Marlies van Eck (1972) is principal consultant at Hooghiemstra & Partners. Marlies specializes in Artificial Intelligence (AI) / digitization and (administrative) law. Within our firm Marlies provides strategic and legal advice to organizations in the public and private domain. She combines the theory with practice and looks for workable solutions.
Marlies obtained her doctorate on the consequences for the citizen and his legal protection when taking computer decisions by the government (2018, Tilburg University). In addition to her work for Hooghiemstra & Partners, she works as a university lecturer at Radboud University Nijmegen.
Marlies gained extensive experience as an employee in the government and the judiciary. She began her career with the predecessor of the Dutch Data Protection Authority (formerly known as the Registratiekamer) where she collaborated with Theo Hooghiemstra. Marlies can be seen as an expert in the free National Course AI (https://app.ai-cursus.nl/home) and initiated the learning module 'AI and the rules'.
