Lieve Smeets
At Hooghiemstra & Partners, Lieve is an expert in applying legal design to clarify and resolve complex legal and informational network issues. She translates complicated legal systems into manuals, decision trees or roadmaps. She has experience in identifying the implications of future regulations, such as the Feasibility Study (Uitvoeringstoets), including the human-centered Dutch general administrative law proposal, and transforming them into user-friendly tools.
Lieve conducts audits in social work, leads workshops for professionals on GDPR-compliant information sharing, and advises local social work teams. As a legal policy officer, she provides your organization with a significant boost in privacy compliance. With her legal and very broad expertise, she is also a highly dependable project secretary.

Lieve studied at Maastricht University and obtained a master's degree in Forensics, Criminology and Justice (specializing criminal law) and a master's degree in Dutch Law (specializing private law). Lieve was chair of the international student organization AIESEC in Maastricht. She has been active as an author and editor for various legal platforms, served as a legal assistant specializing in tenancy law, and supported students participating in exchange programs. Additionally, she worked at a law firm, where she focused on assisting victims of sexual violence.
